We are excited to announce that Aaron Siehr, St. Francis de Sales seminarian, has been trusted to our care as a teaching parish. Aaron will be with our parishes for the next four years, when God willing, he will be ordained to the Priesthood of Jesus Christ. As you have welcomed Dcn. Kevin Harmon, please pray for and welcome Aaron Siehr.
Msgr. Shecterle and Fr. Linn
My name is Aaron Siehr, and I’m blessed to have been assigned to St. Anthony and St. Mary Parishes as a new teaching-parish seminarian. I’m about to begin my first year of theology studies at St. Francis de Sales Seminary, and I’m looking forward to serving the next four years in Menomonee Falls. I grew up in Pewaukee, and my home parish is St. Dominic in Brookfield, where I also attended grade school. I went to Catholic Memorial High School in Waukesha, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in May 2019 with a degree in Rehabilitation Psychology.
I’m blessed to have grown up in a very close and loving family. The support of my mom, dad, older sister, grandparents, and others has taught me how to love, as well as the importance of faith. Tragedy struck my family when my father was killed in a work accident when I was just seven years old. This was incredibly difficult for me and my family, yet the love and support of our family, friends, and church helped us grieve this loss with a sense of hope and faith in the resurrection.
In those early years after my dad’s death, I’m confident God was revealing his fatherly heart to me. This often came through the generous love of great role models like my grandfather, coaches, priests, and other family members. These are the individuals who supported me and guided me to pursue excellence and service. In middle and high school, serving at Mass and other service activities often became occasions of thinking about giving my life in service to others. The possibility of priesthood entered my mind.
It was at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where the call to priesthood grew and became a real desire of my heart. The witness of the students and priests at St. Paul University Catholic Center as well as the men of Phi Kappa Theta Catholic Fraternity convinced me that a life in pursuit of holiness is possible and is one filled with great joy. Through a greater commitment to regular reception of the sacraments, a deeper understanding of how God reveals Himself in prayer, and an increased awareness of the holy joy of priests, God invited me to respond to His call to pursue His priesthood. Responding and being formed at St. Francis de Sales Seminary these past two years in pre-theology has been an incredible joy. God’s love for me has been incredible, and I can’t wait to give it back to Him through service of His Church.
I’m so eager to meet you all and serve under the guidance of Monsignor Shecterle and Father Linn. I can’t wait to share my love of faith, sports, music, trivia, and all things Wisconsin with all of you. If you see me around, please feel free to stop me and introduce yourselves. Thank you for your prayers and support. I will be praying for you as well.
St. Mary, Mother of God and St. Anthony the Hermit, pray for us.
