High School Service Opportunities

hands around the Earth

“Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.”
                                                                                                                                                      -Matt. 25:40
We serve because we can and God asks us to "Love one another."

"Love one another," does not mean just family, it means everybody.  A goal of our program is for teens to accept the responsibility of being disciples of Christ through witness of our faith.  God's plan is for service is to become part of who we are as Catholics not something we must do.  We serve because we love God.  We hope the teens find a niche area that they feel called to serve, and they continue with that ministry after Confirmation. Teens are welcome and should be encouraged to participate in as much service as they feel called to do.

Each teen will be expected to be a witness to their faith by performing service in at least 4 areas with a minimum of two hours each.

Parish , Home, Community, Self, School

Small Group Service ~ Teens will be expected to participate in a small group service experience with their core team leader.  This experience will be service to the community in some way.  Some examples might be:  Make a Difference Day (MADD), St. Ben's Meal Program, Bingo with a local nursing home, etc.

Parish ~ Teens will be expected to participate in the life of the parish in one or more of the following ways.  Liturgical ministry options includes:  Ushers, Greeters, Altar Servers, music ministry or lector ministry. Human Concerns Ministry includes:  St. Ben's Meal program, Burmese tutoring, Menomonee Falls Food Pantry, Christmas Baskets for the homebound, Teen Pro-Life events.  Community Building:  Pancake Breakfast, Feastable, Family Fun Fair.

Home ~ Freewill offering of cleaning the house, doing yard work, babysitting for siblings, making dinner ...

Self  ~ Participate in youth ministry events, read a spiritual book, read the Sunday scripture before Mass each week, watch a movie that has a strong moral lesson

When you grow in your faith you strengthen the whole parish community

"Christ has no body now on earth but yours, no hands but yours, no feet but yours,

… yours are the feet by which He is to go about doing good.”

~ St. Teresa of Avila
