Confirmation Candidate Expectations
Below are the expectations that a candidate must complete before
Celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation
It is critical that the candidate plan to attend every class session. The program builds on each subsequent session, and the small groups establish a bond that supports each other’s faith journey. If a candidate must miss a class session, he/she will be required to review the material covered with a parent prior to the next class session. (Syllabus will be provided)
Candidate will complete and return the Parish Records Form for Confirmation Candidate along with a copy of Baptismal Certificate by the first class on September 10, 2017.
Candidate will have a confirmed, Catholic, adult Sponsor.
Sponsor will attend the Sponsor/Candidate breakfast and retreat on October 8th from 8-10:15am at St. Mary Parish in the lower level conference rooms. Mass to follow. If a sponsor is unavailable to attend, candidate should bring a parent.
Candidate will be a witness to their faith through four areas of service: Parish, Home, Community, Self at a minimum of 2 hours for each activity.
Candidate will attend Mass weekly and all Holy Days of Obligation.
Candidate will complete the Confirmation Candidate Name Selection Form and return it on or before December 5, 2017.
Candidate will attend our Confirmation Retreat on January 12 and 13, 2017. (If candidate is unable to attend this retreat he/she must find another Confirmation retreat to attend.)
Candidate will write a letter to the Bishop, expressing his/her preparation and desire to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation, due no later than January 31 to the Christian Formation office.
Candidate and Sponsor will attend the Confirmation rehearsal on Saturday, March 3, 2018 from noon to 1:00pm in the school conference rooms so that we can practice processing into the church.
Candidate and Sponsor will attend Confirmation Liturgy on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at 2:00pm at St. Mary Church.
