Christian Formation Programs

St. Mary's Christian Formation program is on a MISSION

to

Live Jesus by Loving Mary

We offer a formation program for grades K4-12th grade.  This isn't the old CCD anymore...we know as disciples we all have been called to so much more.  St. Mary's offers a vibrant program that not only catechizes the youth but provides hands-on opportunity to come face to face with Christ through volunteerism, local and national mission trips, community-building, and family programs.  Our goal is that every child and teen develops a personal relationship with Christ that will continue way beyond these formation years.

Kindergarten-Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is an amazing approach to a contemplative catechesis for children, as developed through the work of Sofia Cavalletti and Gianna Gobbi. "CGS" is more than a catechesis for children. It has been called, "...one of the new renewal movements for the Church, given to us by the Lord... allowing us a new way to receive and experience the gifts of the Lord through a contemplative listening of the Word and an active participation in the Sacraments of His Presence."

Grades 1-5

Elementary age children are given the opportunity to learn and grow in their faith. They are taught Catholic tradition, faith, scripture and prayer in an encouraging environment. Four times a year families will gather together through our family sessions.  Christian Formation classes meet from 9:10 to 10:15 on Sunday mornings.

Grades 6-8

We aim to lead middle schoolers closer to Christ by providing solid catechesis along with opportunities for community service, faith-based discussions, retreats, and our local summer mission trip-Matthew 25.  Class sessions are from 9:10-10:15 on Sunday mornings.

Teens will learn what it means to be a disciple! You can't love what you do not understand.  St. Mary's program focuses on leading teens closer to Christ through traditional and experiential catechesis:  Scripture, Prayer, Sacraments, Relationships, Morality and Social Justice. We also offer spiritual growth through an annual retreat, opportunities to serve the Lord, summer mission trip, and Steubenville Conference.

Grade 11 Confirmation

Teens will confirm their commitment towards discipleship!  During this program teens will have opportunities to discern their faith and their commitment to the Catholic Church.  There will be plenty of opportunities to contemplate what it means to be Catholic,  strengthen their prayer life, explore their spiritual gifts.  Confirmation is just the beginning of the faith journey!  This program will provide the tools for lifelong faith commitment.
